Lewis PTA Response to PPS Rightsizing Scenarios

Lewis has a strong community and a safe building.

We encourage Lewis PTA members to fight for our school with respect and empathy for what school closures mean for our neighbors.

We hope PPS school board members will visit our neighborhood school to fully understand the loss if Lewis closes.

We believe in the positive possibility of our neighborhood school - and are determined to celebrate Lewis, no matter the outcome.

On October 5, Portland Public Schools officially outlined three possible scenarios as part of their rightsizing process. 

Those scenarios include one where Lewis Elementary closes, moving Woodstock neighborhood students outside of their local community for their K-5 education. This impacts the entire neighborhood. View the PPS scenarios

Lewis PTA obviously does not support Scenario A in which Lewis Elementary is forced to closed, nor do we support the closing of other fundamentally necessary neighborhood schools. Read our original position to the PPS rightsizing process
